For this game I wanted the player to experience fast paced gameplay combined with a unique mechanic. The game was inspired by Neon White, but I made it stand out in 5 different ways:

  1. Elemental obstacles that can only be overcome by an opposing element.
  2. Combining cards to gain a unique card.
  3. Reversing your card deck.
  4. Bonus endings to levels, allowing for harder routes to the end.
  5. Certain levels have multiple solutions and routes to get to the goal.

The game has a minimalistic style so everything is clear and can be observed in one look. The mechanics are taught through gameplay and each level expands on a concept more and more. This way the player slowly becomes better over time and retrying levels is super fast so the player doesn't feel like they are wasting time.

I also made a debugging system that can be used in-game by pressing F1.

The game was regularly play tested which helped a ton. Many things changed over time in order to improve the gameplay experience.
